Description
Summary:Sweeteners are source of nutrients that are widely consumed and have a direct impact on energy

metabolism. This study aims to see the effect of the consumption of various types of sweeteners

on the durability of activity, seen from the duration of mice swimming. Parameters tested in this

study were blood glucose levels and the duration of mice swimming. Blood glucose levels were

measured with EasyTouch Glucose Meter after 10 hours of fasting and 60 minutes after

treatment. The duration of swimming calculated until mice’s nose right on the surface of the

water. Percentage of swimming duration change and the angle formed between linear regression

line of percentage of swimming duration change graph with the line parallel to X axis is calculated.

The results showed that sucrose can provide the most energy which is indicated by the highest

increase of swimming duration, followed by honey, fructose , palm sugar, stevioside, acesulfame,

and sorbitol. Consumption of low-calorie sweeteners can accelerate the occurrence of fatigue

after activity.
