DESIGN OF FLUE GAS DESULFURIZATION ON AIR POLLUTION CONTROL AT CIREBON COAL POWER PLANT 2ND UNIT

In order to fulfill the government's program to achieve the target of 35,000 MW power plant, Cirebon Coal Power Plant 2nd Unit will be constructed with 1.000 MW capacity. Coal consumption to achieve that capacity is 11.000 tons/day or 4.015.000 tons/year. The coal contain 0,28% sulfur. Based on...

Description
Summary:In order to fulfill the government's program to achieve the target of 35,000 MW power plant, Cirebon Coal Power Plant 2nd Unit will be constructed with 1.000 MW capacity. Coal consumption to achieve that capacity is 11.000 tons/day or 4.015.000 tons/year. The coal contain 0,28% sulfur. Based on stoichiometric reaction, SO2 emission from Cirebon Coal Power Plant 2nd Unit is 1.484 mg/m3. That value exceed the quiality standard in Regulation of the Minister of Environment No. 21 2008 Appendix 1B, 750 mg/Nm3. Then, it is needed to control the SO2 to fulfill the quality standard and reduce negative impact from power plant process. The plan to control SO2 is by Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD). The design of the system include lime processing (silo and slaker), scrubber, and waste handling (effluent hold tank, thickener, belt press). The design will be packed tower scrubber with packing material ceramics raschig rings 2 inch and lime reagent. The design has capability to remove up to 85% SO2 that enter the scrubber with lime needs 61 tons per day.
