Summary: | Kidney is an important organ that has the main functions of excretion, elimination, and volume

homeostasis. Kidney function abnormalities consist of acute kidney disease (AKD) and chronic

kidney disease (CKD). The number of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy is always

increasing from year to year. The most common comorbidities that happens in CKD patients with

hemodialysis therapy are hypertension and anemia. Some drugs are used both to treat chronic

kidney disease and high blood pressure or anemia that accompanies it. The use of drug needs to

be considered, therefore patients get the desired therapeutic effect and avoid adverse side

effects. This study was conducted to find out and evaluate the use of antihypertensive and

antianemia in CKD patients with hemodialysis therapy. This study consists on analysis of the

appropriateness drug use, that consist of appropriateness of indication, patient, and dosage, and

also analyze potential drug interactions between antihypertensive, antianemia, or other drugs,

and also analyze the decreasing of blood preasure and the increasing of hemoglobin levels in CKD

patients with hemodialysis therapy in a private hospital in Bandung. The results showed that the

most widely used antihypertensive was a combination of CCB-diuretic which has the percentage

of 17.1%. Evaluation of the appropriateness drug use showed 82.81% appropriate indication and

78.12% appropriate patient. The use of antihypertensive showed 64.06% appropriate dose and

34.38% overdose. The use of antianemia showed 8.33% appropriate dose and 91.67% less dose.

There is a potential drug interactions with moderate severity (48.31%) and major (7.86%). The

highest blood pressure reduction was produced by a combination of 3 OAH both in pre-dialysis

blood pressure (p= 0.006 for systolic blood pressure and p= 0.068 for diastolic blood pressure)

and post-dialysis blood pressure (p= 0.015 for systolic blood pressure and p= 0.013 for diastolic

blood pressure). The use of antianemia can also increase hemoglobin levels in both men (p=

0.331) and women (p= 0.057).
