Summary: | Interactive digital media is a digital media which its user could interact with it and those interactions determine its output. Interactive digital media become important because it could give users a brand new experience in using a digital media. Users could feel an exciting moment when using it. An example of interactive digital media is tamagotchi. In order to increase user’s experience, an interactive digital media could be developed into a media with more social which its user could connect to each other and more intuitive. To achieve this goal, then there is a need to create a new digital media platform. This platform will be named Digipet.

Digipet is an android based mobile game application which is used to do a simulation of having a pet and digital map information access. This application is implemented using a client and server system with RabbitMQ as a message broker. Client side is implemented using Unity Game Engine and server side is implemented using visual studio. Augmented reality is used to show user their pet and map information. Map and navigation’s information is accessed from OpenStreetMap. User could interact with their pet. User could also see another user’s pet near him and their interaction.

Result shows that each user’s virtual pet and map information successfully shown using augmented reality. Shown map information’s position is looked appropiate with their real position. Movement synchronization between pet and their interaction is also looked appropiate. Another testing is about data consumption to see how much data is used by this application. Result shows that data consumption is in a normal range for a smartphone’s data usage. |
