Sludge produced water (SPW) will be generated in the production process to obtain a pure gas. According to Indonesian Government Regulation Num. 101/2014, SPW categorized as hazardous waste with codes D220 and D221 that must be managed in order not to pollute the environment. One of SPW management may include in the utilization of SPW. In this case, SPW of the PT.X Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) will be used as organic fertilizer or soil improver. Organic content of sludge that reached 62.14% with C / N ratio equal to 27.00 allows the sludge processing by biological processes, so in here aerobik degradation by composting techniques and biopile as a method of free air supply was choosen. Processing was done if the organic-C content of the sludge > 15% and ≤ 15 C / N ratio ≤ 25 refers to the Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Regulation Num. 70 / Permentan / SR.140 / 10 / 2011. In order to reduce the C / N ratio and increase porosity, there was addition of bulking agent in the form of dried leaves with the ratio of bulking agent : sludge = 1 : 3. This study is focused on the transformation of nitrogen compounds, organic-C concentration and related bacterial population that can affect the C / N ratio during the composting process. Composting process was carried out for 110 days. The composting process decreased organic-C content into 25.93 %DW and C / N ratio into 21.23 on day-48. C/N ratio decreased because of organic N mineralization, nitrogen fixation and cell death, meanwhile the increase of C/N ratio caused by N-immobilization into cel. Heterotrophic bacteria has μ = 0.5457/day and Kd = 0.237/day, N-fixer bacteria has μ = 0.5547/day and Kd = 0.2654/day, ammonium oxidizer bacteria has μ = 0.5335/day and Kd = 0.2204/day and nitrite oxidizer bacteria has μ = 0.5598/day and Kd = 0.2572/day.<p align= "justify"> text |
