Based on the patients’ medical record and observations of examination

in psychiatric clinic at Soreng regional general hospital,, we found 223 patients

with schizophrenia visited the clinic with the following details: 5,83 %

patients without Trihexyphendyl (THP), 39,52 % patients have been

discontinued using THP, and 127 patients on THP among which 19,69%

with EPS. Patients were not treated with THP with the intention as

prophylactic measure against EPS is 100 %. The use of THP in the clinic

was seen to be decreased, either through dose reduction or its

dinscontinuation. This reduction, however, had no effect on the appearance

of EPS, indicating the appropriateness of the change in THP dose. But

further assessment needs to be done on the possibility ofthe appearance of

EPS in patients under APG I + THP. In this case, prescription adjustment

might be required in the form of antipsychotic dose reduction and/or

replacing APG I by APG II according to the presented symptoms
text
