Description
Summary:paracetamol as a primary reference standard has not been produced independently by the authorized

institution in Indonesia. In order to initiate the independent procurement of primary reference standard, tIn

order to initiate the independent provision of primary reference standard, this research was conducted to

obtain the high purity paracetamol as a primary reference standard candidate. In this research, purification

of pharmaceutical grade paracetamol using recrystallization method in several organic solvents using thin

layeryhigh performance liquid chromatography, FTIR y, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopyand is well

as titrimetric assayThe results showed that was carried out. Then characterizatic and purity of

recrystallization product was analyzed using thin layer chromatography, high performance liquid

chromatography, FTIR spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, melting point analysis, loss

on drying, residue on ignition analysis and nitrite titration. The result of this research showed that eethyl

acetate was the most suitable solvent for paracetamol recrystallization. Based on overall characterization

results, it was concluded that the purified paracetamol fullfilled the purity criteria as candidate primary

standard with percentage of assigned value 99,96%.
