MAGNETITE CORE POLY(MAA-CO-EGDMA) AS SORBENT FOR RHODAMINE B ANALYSIS IN FOOD SAMPLES

Rhodamine B is a synthetic dye that is generally used as a dye and should not be used in food products because it is carcinogenic. However, in fact rhodamin B is still widely used in various foods, one of them krupuk. Rhodamin B is reported to have been used in food because it provides brighter colo...

However, in fact rhodamin B is still widely used in various foods, one of them krupuk. Rhodamin B is reported to have been used in food because it provides brighter colors at a lower price. The purpose of this study is to make a sorbent molecularly imprinted polymer with selective rhodamine B. In this research, Rhodamine B Imprinted Poly (MAA-co-EGDMA) Magnetite or RIPM synthesis is used as selective sorbent to rhodamine B. The compounds used are Fe3O4, tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), methacrylic acid (MAA) as monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as a crosslinker, benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator, acetonitrile as porogen, and rhodamine B as target molecule. RIPM has been successfully synthesized and characterized by its functional group using FTIR and has a nanoparticle size based on TEM analysis results. The synthesized RIPM adsorbs optimum contact time of 30 minutes. The maximum adsorption capacity of RIPM is 98.11 mg / g and its adsorption follows the pseudo-second order kinetics and Langmuir isotherms. RIPM was shown to be selective in rhodamine B in mixture with erythrosine B by showing selectivity coefficient of more than 1. In addition, the percent recovery RIPM more than 75% using methanol: acetic acid (9: 1) as desorption solvent. The analysis of krupuk sample was successfully performed and gave the result of rhodamine B is 167,87 mg / kg. text
