The purpose of milling is to modify the particle size using ball mill <br /> <br /> method, while dry extract of torbangun leaves is made using the spray drying method. In this study, <br /> <br /> extracts from the crude drug which have been milled using the ball milling method have lower <br /> <br /> flavonoid content (10.03 ± 0.04 g QE/100 g extracts) and higher phenolic content (11.77 ± 0.49 g <br /> <br /> GAE/100 g extracts) than extracts from the crude drug which have not undergone a milling process. <br /> <br /> In addition, spray drying temperature and maltodextrin concentration had a significant effect <br /> <br /> (p<0.05) on moisture content, total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, and bulk density of <br /> <br /> dried extract of torbangun leaves. Moisture content, total phenolic content, and total flavonoid <br /> <br /> content decreased with increasing temperature and maltodextrin concentration. Whereas bulk <br /> <br /> density decreased with increasing temperature and increased with increasing maltodextrin <br /> <br /> concentration. Based on the result of optimization using the Response Surface Methodology <br /> <br /> method, the most optimal condition of spray dry was achieved at a temperature of 182.83o C with <br /> <br /> maltodextrin concentration of 1% (w/w). At these optimum conditions, the expected quality of dry <br /> <br /> extracts from torbangun leaves are low water content and bulk density, but high total phenolic and <br /> <br /> flavonoid content. <br /> text |
