The increasing number of cafes causes competition higher, in addition bustle of

the people leads everything to monotonous, so entertainment is needed in a

practical way even though only eat and drink with couple. This encourages the

business people in determining the right strategy, by creating thematic cafes, like

a café with an interior that creates a romantic atmosphere. In this research, color

setting of glowing light, light intensity, and position of light source will be tested.

So far, there have been many researches investigating the dim lighting but it is

rare to have a research discussing dim, decorative lighting coming from a glowing

light source to romantic experience. Thus, this experiment aims to test the color

variables of glowing light, the light intensity and the position of the light source

which are expected to support the romantic experience of the cafe visitors using

pseudo-experiment method in order to get the perception, emotion and attitude

responses from the cafe visitors. There are 13 kinds of conditions presented in this

experiment, which consists of 3 levels of light intensity namely 1lx, 4lx and 8lx

and then it presents 3 kinds of light color namely the glowing red, blue and green

placed on the table or hung on the table. Twenty couples of respondents subjected

in this research are people who have a couple (not married) and visit the cafe

frequently. The characteristics of the subjects under research are lovers, male and

female included in the early adulthood (age 20-30 years) in which to assess each

condition through the perceptual responses, emotions and attitudes that are

obtained. Before conducting the main experiment, a trial experiment is firstly

conducted. It aims to see to what extent the experimental stimulus used can

produce valid and reliable data. The light filters used as instrument in this

experiment are fiber optics and chameleon stickers that can produce glowing light.

Data collection of the research uses the instrument of questionnaire. The data

obtained through the experiment are in the form of numerical data which then be

analyzed by One Way ANOVA calculation; it generally reveals that the tendency

to the intensity of dim and glowing light to the very dim affects the romantic

experience, the distance of light source to the respondent's eyes and the color of

the glowing light influence as well. Condition of the light color is glowing red,

with the lowest light intensity of 1lx and the position of the light source is placed

over the table, is the most favorable condition of romantic experience compared to

other conditions. Based on one of the analysis results, it can be concluded that the

lower the intensity of red glowing light, the visitor’s emotion becomes more

pleased, excited and lured. Moreover, the lower the intensity of red glowing light,

the responses of couple-visitor's perception becomes warmer, intimate and

passionate. Meanwhile, the attitude response has almost the same results on all

conditions, so it has no significant effect. The tendency of warm light has already

started to show a positive effect even at very low intensity level. The conclusion

can be proved by the value that has the highest mean on that condition. |
