Description
Summary:To calculate the Initial Gas In Place (IGIP) using P/Z method, production and reservoir pressure data are needed to do the analysis, whereas reservoir pressure data usually not measured regularly from time to time, meantime data that always available in the field is well head pressure data. This method will give good results if used for reservoir that does not have a driving mechanism, especially strong water or this method is used in very weak water drive, so the effect of driving mechanism can be neglected. In this study, the curve of P / Z vs. Gp was modificated from material balance equation by including parameters of water influx, water production, and compressibility. The pressure used in this study is the reservoir pressure obtained from wellhead pressure converted by Beggs and Brill pressure loss and gas reservoir deliverabilty principle .

Bottom water drive reservoir has strong aquifer which causes water influx. With the presence of water influx, there is a tendecy curve P/Z to deviate from the condition should be, which is a straight line. So it is difficult to obtain the actual value of IGIP. In this study analyzes IGIP estimation method proposed modification of the P / Z considering the effects of water production, water influx, compressibility of formation and compressibility of water. This method gives an error of 3.15% while method P / Z conventionally has an error of 31.62%. Seeing the magnitude of the error generated enough method P / Z conventional, became a concern over their effects on the aquifer to estimate the value of IGIP. An error in the petroleum industry are allowed up to 25%. So the method proposed modification of P / Z can be used as a reference in the petroleum industry to determining IGIP value of reservoir with bottom water drive.
