organizational citizenship behavior, job satisfaction and employee involvement. However, employee <br />
<br />
engagement has broader concept compared to the three earlier concepts: organizational citizenship <br />
<br />
behavior, job satisfaction and employee involvement. Employee engagement defines as emotional <br />
<br />
commitment to an organization where employees are investing themselves in their role to <br />
<br />
organization’s goals. Emphasizing on engaged workforce is crucial since engaged employees are <br />
<br />
suggested to be a great predictor for organizational performance. This paper analyzed the key factors <br />
<br />
affecting employee engagement and how it shapes organizational culture within business schools in <br />
<br />
the UK. Through phenomenological approach, the study attempted an interview and the data analyzed <br />
<br />
qualitatively with thematic analysis method. A coding method was conducted to obtain themes which <br />
<br />
then required to mapping the relationship between conceptual elements based on the data. The results <br />
<br />
indicated that factors affecting employee engagement varies from personal aspect, work duties, <br />
<br />
interpersonal relationship with colleagues, and organization’s management. Employee engagement <br />
<br />
has a direct relationship with the organizational culture, which acts as the backbone of a good working <br />
<br />
cultures. The findings can be learned by practitioners to increase engagement and reduce negative <br />
<br />
impact of disengaged employees. However, further study that focuses on organizational performance <br />
<br />
will provides more reliable information towards the effectiveness of employee engagement role in <br />
<br />
overall organization performance. This study is unique in respect to the comprehensive results which <br />
<br />
was transformed the lived experiences of employees. |
