Summary: | Caffeine is an active compound that is normally found in tea, coffee, chocholate, cola beverages, and energetic drink. Caffeine can reduce cancer risk. However high consumption of caffeine could cause addiction, so that determination of caffeine in food and beverages is important. In this research, a Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (MIP) modified carbon paste electrode was developed for voltammetric determination of caffeine. The MIP-modified carbon paste electrode exhibits the best performance compared to Non-Imprinted Polymer (NIP) modified carbon paste electrode and the unmodified carbon aste electrode. Calibration curve was linier in the concentration range of 0,01 mM – 0,1 mM with detection limit of 3,86 ?M. Determination of caffeine in real samples using the developed method had similar results with those of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). |
