Summary: | Heat transfer in heat pipe has been studied. In this stage, the research is focused to better understanding of heat pipe phenomenon and to look for optimum condition related to filling ratio (ratio of fluid volume to volume of heat pipe). Operating temperature range is 110 - 150 °C and water is used as working fluid. In this research, cooper tube is used, where heat pipe outside diameter is 8 mm, 1 mm thick, 400 mm long. Stainless Steel SS304 wire screen, mesh 50 is used as wick, inserted inside pipe to provide better liquid transportation from condensor to evaporator. Electric heater is used as heat source. Heat removal from condensor is provided by either natural convection or forced convection.
