Transportation sector of Batam itself can not be separated from the role of the only airport in the city, Hang Nadim International Airport, which has the longest runway in Indonesia, reaching 4,025 meters long. The airport is an inextricably intertwined from Batam’s fast developing transporation sector and has served the city since 31 years ago, accomodating every single passenger movement to and from Batam with only one terminal. However, since the past few years, the number of passengers movement in the terminal have exceeded the capacity of the terminal, which is 3 million passengers per year. The movement of passengers at Hang Nadim has now reached 5-6 million passengers per year. Therefore, the presence of a terminal-2 to support the excessive passenger movement becomes an urgent need for Hang Nadim Airport. Terminal-2 itself will accommodate domestic passenger movements to and from Batam with a total area of around 100,000 m², which consists of a 3-storey-building. The terminal will be able to accommodate the movement of 8 million passengers per year will be designed with various typologies of linear and multi-level with curbs separation for passengers departing on the 1st floor and curbs for passenger arrivals are on the ground floor. This terminal will carry the concept which is tailored to the design issues and trends from the airport terminal today, such as green airport and stress-free airport. text |
