Therefore, to fulfill the water supply needs, required incomplex water treatment plant. Moreover, water sources too become a problem. Ground water is one of the water sources that can be used. People usually not choose ground water because of its quantity and quality. The quality of ground water makes much of alternative treatments. Simple treatments that usually used are aeration, filtration, and some prechlorination. Focus of this research is observe the existing design of water treatment plant on Tunas Harapan Orphanage and compare it to the applicable design criteria. The purpose of this paper is to redesign several criterias from this unit to get the proper design due to the design criteria (SNI 6774:2008 and AWWA). If there’s some criteria that not match, there will be a redesign refers to applicable design criteria. Main parameter from this water treatment plant is head loss. Measurement of head loss is using simple piezometer unit. For worthiness of this water treatment plant is measure the criteria and compare them with the design criteria. There’s still some criteria that not match like the distance between trays with 22 cm. Furthermore, filtration rate also didn’t match with the design criteria. It should be 6-11 m/hour, but it only 4.42 m/hour for sand filtration and 5.59 for activated carbon filtration. Uniformity coefficient and effective size too. It should be 1.2-1.4 for UC and 0.3-0.7 mm for ES. But, this only 3.38 and 2.66 (UC of sand and activated carbon), and 1.37 mm (ES of activated carbon). With those discrepancies, water treatment plant have to redesign. Redesign that has been resulted in several changes of the dimension of filtration and aeration unit. Furthermore, there are also redesign by the modification of second raw water tank, addition of backwashing pump, and scheme, and addition of chlor injector. text
