Drinking Water Regional Company (PDAM) Tirtawening, Bandung as a company engaged in the service of drinking water is required to produce drinking water according to the standard sets by government, which is the Ministry of Health Regulation of The Republic of Indonesia No. 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010 on Requirements of Drinking Water Quality. This study aims to propose an implemantation of water safety plan in PDAM Tirtawening’s distribution area up to the farthest point of service area in Babakan Ciparay Subdistrict, Bandung. Monitored parameters were microbiological quality of drinking water based on the number of total coliform and E. coli using Most Probable Number (MPN) method. Tested water samples were taken from the resevoar unit of Badaksinga Drinking Water Installation and 80 consumers’ taps in the distribution line. Based on the laboratory analysis, it was known that 81.25% of total samples in distribution area fulfiled drinking water quality standard based on microbiological parameters. However, there were still microbial contamination in several farthest distribution points due to pipes leakage and the losses of chlorine residual concentration. MPN highest value for total coliform and E. coli were measured up to 150 MPN/100 ml of water. Model water safety plan for a utility distribution system includes hazard analysis, control measure, critical limits, and required corrective action. Based on this research, further improvement is expected in order to achieve public health targets and fulfil applicable quality standards. text
