In this research, polyblend membranes were produced by mixing two polimeric solutions (dopes), i.e. poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) in DMF and cellulose acetate (CA) in DMAc. A membrane whose PMMA and CA of 17,5% and 7,5% respectively was found to have an optimum performance. The dope solution was then cast and precipitated in demineralized water at 10oC and room temperature to synthesize two types of membrane’s types. After the immersion precipitation, each above membrane was then annealed at 80oC for 10 minutes. The synthesized membranes were then characterized through filtration experiment to determine permeability and permselectivity of the membrane, observation by SEM, Infrared Spectroscopy and measurement of contact angle. The optimum membrane rejection toward starch was to be between 40- 50% and toward maltose was to be less than 11%. text |
