Thriving at work was introduced as the condition when individual sense a vitality and learning. Thriving at Work is use as the mediated variable between the personality and work engagement. Individuals have their own characteristic that might be different between one and another. Considering that individual have their own uniqueness that might affect their level on work engagement. Thriving appear to be an experience that might bridge between the characteristic of the individual to be connected into their engagement to the profession or in this research called work engagement. There are various concept of engagement in the academic area. Among all those concept this research is focus on work engagement which describe as the level of individual engagement to the professions. While personality is describe as the dependent variable which are two concepts named five-factor model and proactive personality. Although there are five personality traits in five-factor model, this research focus only three personality traits which are consciousness, neuroticism and extraversion. Based on previous research, only three personality traits out of five that significantly have relationship on thriving, Because of that, this research only focus on three personality traits. This research investigates the linkage between personality and work engagement mediated by thriving at work in the context of Generation Y. Data were collected from 267 employees from Generation Y in Indonesia. This research focus on quantitative approach by using SEM-PLS tools. The finding highlights the relationship with personality named consciousness, neuroticism and proactive personality towards thriving at work. Extraversion are found to be not related with thriving at work. This research also found that Thriving at Work is able to partially mediated the relationship between personality and work engagement. This finding is considered to be apply in the future research to find which variable that able to fully mediated the relationship between personality and work engagement. text |
