Therefore, this research objectives were to find the correlation between improved and unimproved drinking water source with those contain of total coliform and E. coli. In addition, we want to know how far the contamination occurred based on drinking water source type. Total coliform and E. coli were measured by Most Probable Number (MPN) method. From 77 drinking water sample, 38 sample or 49.35% used improved drinking water source, and 39 sample or 50.65% used unimproved drinking water source. Microbiology analysis result showed that the contamination of coliform bacteria occurred in 26 samples or 68.42% of improved drinking water sources and 23 samples or 58,97% of unimproved drinking water sources. While E. coli contamination occurred in 17 samples or 44.74% of improved drinking water sources and 18 samples or 46.15% of unimproved drinking water sources. Mann-Whitney test output showed the significance value for variable coliform total and E. coli were 0.298 and 0.889, or its probability is above 0.05. According to that, the quality of improved and unimproved drinking water source actually weren’t different significantly. Kendall Tau test output showed the significance value between drinking water source and diarrhea incidence was 0.071 (above 0.05), so there weren’t significant relation between drinking water source and diarrhea incidence. text |
