Buildings with the main function such as place for monks’ ordination ceremony (Uposatthagara), place of worship (Dharmasala), residence of monks and Buddhist people (Kuti), while for supporting function such as canteen, office, merchandise corner. This temple has an area of ± 32,000 m2. The site is located on Colonel Masturi street no VIII, which is a mountainous area with cold atmosphere. The owner of this land is Yayasan Bandung Sucinno Indonesia which is engaged in advancing the spread of Buddhism. The main users of this temple are monks and Buddhist people. The essence of Buddhism is the attainment of Nibb?na, where it can be obtained through meditation. This meditation activity can be done well if supported by a calm environment atmosphere that helps people to concentrate. Therefore, the basic concept of designing this temple is tranquility. This concept of tranquility is implemented in the selection of mass composition from simple geometric shapes, the composition of the site and the building, the laying of the masses that concerned with the axis, hierarchy and contour differences, and the existence of open spaces with lawns. This concept is also poured in the selection of materials that use dominant wood in all buildings except Uposatthagara. text |
