Summary: | Musi River has an important role in the history of the emergence of ethnic Chinese
and Arab ethnic civilization as a transportation trade route. As a result, many of
the ethnic homes are located on the banks of the Musi River, especially in Seberang
Ulu. The provincial government of South Sumatra sees the potential of tourism in
these houses so that it developed into a tourist village. The tourist village in
question are Kampung Kapitan and Kampung Cina, which is connected directly by
the corridor on the banks of the Musi River, and Kampung Arab Al-Munawar which
was inaugurated in late 2016. This final project document is a study that can
support the development of tourist village based on visitor perception. The purpose
of this document is to provide the development strategy of the three tourism villages
as heritage tourism on the banks of the Musi River in an integrated manner because
of its location which is close together. Each tourist village has unique and different
attractions but there is no development direction to make the tourist villages as a
heritage area although on the banks of the Musi River Seberang Ulu there are many
traditional and historic buildings. In addition, the condition of deserted tourist
villages and the limited age group of visitors reflects the lack of interest of local
and overseas tourists to visit the tourist attraction on the banks of this Musi River.
Therefore, this document seeks to make the perception of visitors as one of the
foundations in the development strategy which is also equipped with field
observations and interviews with related parties.
This final project uses a mix method approach where quantitative approaches are
used to analyze perceptions through frequency statistical analysis, analyzing
development strategies through crosstab statistical analysis and qualitative
approaches to analyze elements of tourism. Perception analysis was done by
distributing questionnaires to 104 visitors by providing questions related to tourism
village, heritage tourism¸and riverfront. The analysis of elements includes the
elements of the tourist village, heritage tourism elements¸ and riverfront elements,
conducted with field observations, interviews, fore, and see related articles.
Furthermore, an analysis was conducted to formulate the strategy of tourism
destination development and supporting strategy by using crosstabulation between
the results of the visitor questionnaire obtained.
