Description
Summary:Use of renewable energi in Indonesia is still not enough. Very-low-head turbines is one solution gaining benefit of energi sources considering the potential of microhydro in this country. The advantage of this system are work at low elevation, it can be attached to water canal and solve complex civil construction problems on previous design. Very-low-head turbines have several components that must be well designed. These components are guide vane, rotor runner, civil construction, and electrical components in energi generation sistems. In this final project will be discussed regarding the design of guide vane and rotor runner. The process of designing fixed blade and blade motion using the approach in the design of vertical type axial turbine. Application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in the process of turbine blades design made to simulate the design model. With this simulation, it can be seen on the turbine performance at design operating conditions on the model and also obtain optimum turbine performance. The simulation results have a turbine efficiency of 84.2%, not much different from the design with 86% efficiency.
