Description
Summary:The availability of sufficient water in quantity, quality, and continuity is very important for human being. For this reason, a Water Treatment Plant is needed that will process raw water to meet certain standards. The Phase I South Bandung Regional SPAM Project was initiated by the Ministry of PUPR, Directorate General of Cipta Karya in collaboration with the Directorate General of Water Resources. WTP Phase I is designed with a capacity of 350 L/s. Clean water will be supplied to PDAM Kota Bandung in the amount of 200 L/s and PDAM Bandung Regency of 150 L/s through their respective reservoirs. The condition that occurs at this time is the existence of a water crisis that occurred in Bandung City and Bandung Regency. The 28 artesian wells owned by PDAM Kota Bandung are mostly dead. Only a few are still active, with water flow continuing to decline. This makes the supply of clean water to residents decreased (Kompas, 2018). In addition Situ Cileunca and Cipanunjang as raw water for PDAM are still receding (Tribun Jabar, 2018). The current WTP evaluation is an idle capacity of 150 L/s so that the current capacity is only 200 L/s. This condition must be addressed immediately because Bandung city and Bandung Regency need a large enough water supply to overcome the clean water crisis that has occurred. Therefore it is necessary to conduct evaluation and retrofitting, namely to make engineering improvements to the WTP units that have been built in order to achieve initial design capacity. So that it is expected that this PDAM can help PDAM Bandung Regency and Bandung City. The WTP unit will be evaluated in advance to determine its compliance with the design criteria. Then units that do not meet the design criteria will be retrofitted so that the unit can work optimally. From the evaluation results, the units to be retrofitted is filtration. Alternative design improvements for this unit is filtration using a rapid sand filter with dual media.
