Description
Summary:PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is a state-owned aeronautics company. NC212i is one of the best products that PTDI produces. NC212i has a high number demand of 6 units a year. The existing condition and improvement plan that PTDI has for NC212i Final Assembly Line (FAL) can’t reach the needed desired cycle time of 41 working days. The desired cycle time can’t be reached because of the non-existent number of workstation determination method, operation allocation method, and number of operator determination method NC212i FAL can use. NC212i FAL need a model that can integrate all those methods so the production target can be achieved by minimal number of workstations. Mixed integer linear programming (MILP) mathematical model is used as a reference to generate a model that fits with NC212i FAL’s characteristic. The model’s objective function is to minimize the number of operators as the primary objective and then try to minimize the number of multi-manned workstations with constraints of precedence, desired cycle time, worker, and work area limitation. Heuristic algorithm that represent all mathematical equation in the generated model is developed to solve the research’s problem. Heuristic algorithm generates the operation allocation for NC212i FAL assembly line with desired cycle time as a limitation. Heuristic algorithm produces a planned assembly line that requires 3 workstations and 48 operators. Proposed solution cut the operator cost by Rp 1.288.485.000 for every produced NC212i airplane. Proposed solution also inflicts added investment cost by Rp 39.641.000.
