This problem can be solved using more pedestrian-friendly street design concept. The shared street is one of this kind street concept because they combining all modes and activity on the same space with pedestrian-priority intervention. This concept using social interaction and democratic process to localize the design of the pedestrian-friendly street. Actually, Indonesia has been using this concept without policy adjustments. It is making the street still prioritize the traffic. Whereas, there are so many narrow streets that cannot provide any sidewalk which is need this concept. DKI Jakarta had less than 10% sidewalk on the street because of this street condition. Qualitative method used in this research to review the policy and the existing condition for concept operationalization of shared street in Indonesia condition. RW 02 Tugu Selatan, Koja, Jakarta Utara has chosen to be the case study because it is representing the unique Indonesian residential area, Kampung Kota. The result is we can operationalize the concept with policy adoption and addition because there is a slot to implementing the concept without more fundamental changes on policy and institution. text
