This company strives to carry out an optimal mining operation. A good quality of mine planning is needed to ensure the mining operation runs efficiently and effectively. A part of the planning is determination of number of digging-loading and hauling equipment.
The aim of this study is to know how efficient a mining operation that happened in a period of time and to provide recommendation of heavy eqipment that proper to use. Fourty six cycle time data were taken from one digging and loading equipment (Excavator CAT 390D) and seven hauling equipments (Articulated Dump Truck CAT 745). Those data are processed using certain formula to make a result of efficiency, productivity of equipment, and match factor.
The result shows that the mining operation had not been running optimally. The efficiency of hauling equipment is 67% while the efficiency of digging-loading equipment is 74%. Both digging-loading and hauling equipment have exceeded production rate (297 BCM/hour) with productivity of 383 BCM/hour for hauling equipment and 356.7 BCM/hour for digging-loading equipment. The value of actual match factor is 1.0274 that is close to ideal value (equal to 1). However, it still can be optimized by reducing one of the hauling equipment, so the value of match factor becomes 0.88. |
