POTENSI ENERGI PASANG SURUT DI SELAT TOYAPAKEH, BALI
The research of potential tidal energy calculation in Toyapakeh Strait (8.6o – 8.7oS and 115.4o – 115.5oE), Bali, Indonesia were performed. Water level and tidal current were simulated using a two-dimensional hydrodynamic model FVCOM (Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Model) with 6 tidal constituents (M2, S2, N2, K1, O1, and Q1) at open boundaries taken from TOPEX/Poseidon (TPXO7) Satellite. SSH (Sea Surface Height) data was obtained from global model HYCOM ((Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model) simulated by Ningsih et al in 2012. Bathymetry data was taken from GEBCO (General Bathymetric Chart of The Ocean) combined with DISHIDROS (Dinas Hidro-Oseanografi) TNI –AL and P3GL (Pusat Penelitian dan Pengembangan Geologi Kelautan) field measurement in 2008. The model was run for a period of 16 days (April 4th – April 20th 2008). Then we mapped and analyzed potential energy which extractable in Toyapakeh Strait. The tidal current in Toyapakeh strait during spring (neap) flood went north with the velocity of 3.55 m/ (2.45 m/s), while during spring (neap) ebb went south with the velocity of 3.68 m/s (2.52 m/s). Potential region was the southern Toyapakeh Strai, near Crystal Bay (8.709o – 8.715o S and 115.444o – 115. 455o E). To estimate the maximum power potential, 2,515 turbines was placed for turbines farm along the strait width using Helical Gorlov Turbine, resulted in power derived from potential (kinetic) energy was 1,551.75 kW ???? 1.55 MW (3,973.70 kW ???? 3.97 MW) on spring tide. While on neap tide, the maximum potential derived from potential (kinetic) energy was 960,73 kW ???? 0.96 MW (3,722.20 kW ???? 3.72 MW). Power derived from potential (kinetic) energy from one Helical GorlovTurbine was 0.617 kW (1.58 kW) during spring tide. While on neap tide, power derived from potential (kinetic) energy was 0.382 kW (1.48 kW). text |

from TOPEX/Poseidon (TPXO7) Satellite. SSH (Sea Surface Height) data was obtained from
global model HYCOM ((Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model) simulated by Ningsih et al in 2012.
Bathymetry data was taken from GEBCO (General Bathymetric Chart of The Ocean)
combined with DISHIDROS (Dinas Hidro-Oseanografi) TNI –AL and P3GL (Pusat Penelitian
dan Pengembangan Geologi Kelautan) field measurement in 2008. The model was run for a
period of 16 days (April 4th – April 20th 2008). Then we mapped and analyzed potential energy
which extractable in Toyapakeh Strait.
The tidal current in Toyapakeh strait during spring (neap) flood went north with the
velocity of 3.55 m/ (2.45 m/s), while during spring (neap) ebb went south with the velocity of
3.68 m/s (2.52 m/s). Potential region was the southern Toyapakeh Strai, near Crystal Bay

2,515 turbines was placed for turbines farm along the strait width using Helical Gorlov
Turbine, resulted in power derived from potential (kinetic) energy was 1,551.75 kW ???? 1.55
MW (3,973.70 kW ???? 3.97 MW) on spring tide. While on neap tide, the maximum potential
derived from potential (kinetic) energy was 960,73 kW ???? 0.96 MW (3,722.20 kW ???? 3.72 MW).
Power derived from potential (kinetic) energy from one Helical GorlovTurbine was 0.617 kW
(1.58 kW) during spring tide. While on neap tide, power derived from potential (kinetic)
energy was 0.382 kW (1.48 kW). |
