Summary: | Development of airside geometrical and structural fasility of Syamsudin Noor
Airport (BSN), Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan is necessary to respond the
increasing number of passengers and aircraft movement. The determination of the
level of airside facility development of BSN is primarily based on the prediction
of the future generated number of daily passengers, which is predicted using
analitical method of stepwise-type 1 by considering the socioeconomical factors
of the airport’s hynterland-Banjarmasin. The estimated number of future daily
passenger movements will then determine the type and size of the aircraft that
might be operated by the airlines, the traffic volumes at peak hour, and eventually
the magnitude and design of the airside geometrical and structural facility
expansion in accordance with FAA and ICAO standard and regulations. The
critical aircraft used in geometrical design of the airside facility is Airbus A330-
300 aircraft which classified into AAC (Aircraft Approach Category) D, ADG
(Airport Design Group) V and TDG (Taxiway Design Group) 6. The airside
facility development designed to accomodate the increasing number of passenger
movements within 20 year from the year which the existing capacity exceeded.
From the air traffic forecasting process, it is known that the existing capacity
exceeded at year 2016. Thus, the development of the airside facility designed to
accomodate the number of traffic untill year 2036. The number of daily passenger
at year 2036 is 46.031 pax with 21 aircraft on ground at peak hour. The result of
the geometrical design include the expansion of new apron area, the construction
of two new exit taxiway, one full parallel taxiway, and the extension of existing

runway 500 m to the east to extend the flight distance of the operating aircraft,
especially a direct flight from Banjarmasin to Jeddah (JED). The pavement
structure designed to accomodate the equivalent number of departing aircraft
within 20 year lifetime. The structural design then evaluated using ACN-PCN
(Aircraft Classification Number-Pavement Classification Number) method. The
declared PCN value of runway, taxiway, and apron is 140/F/D/X/T, 91/R/B/X/T,
and 94/R/B/X/T, respectively. The drainage of the development area is designed
based on 5-year event storm. The marking of the airside facility is adjusted to the
geometrical design output. |
