Summary:Hypertension, which one the highest prevalence disease in Indonesia, especially in elderly group. Stroke caused by hypertension is one leading cause death in Indonesia. There are two-risk factors group in hypertension,i.e.,factor that cannot be changed and factor that can be changed such as dietary habits and nutrition, life style, and obesity. Lifestyle changed starting with the consumption of healthy food is a great solution to cure hypertension. The objective of this research is to applies healthy food to reduce the blood pressure in groups of hypertensive elderly patients in Bandung. The research is begin with interview to get subjects meet the inclusion criteria. The interview is used to determine a healthy food that is in accordance with the subject food consumed daily. Subject where dividedinto two groups, i.e., test and control groups with 16 subject in each groups. Experiment was carried out in seven days by deliver lunch and dinner box to each subject. Parameter determined is blood pressure changed, body weight and BMI which was observed in three periods, before, day 3, and day 7 after given healthy food. Result showed that there was a reduced in blood pressure significantyly (p<0.05) at the 3 days and 7 days after treatment, i.e., (152,06 + 15,38 mmHg) corupaced to (135,31 + 10,33 mmHg) on day 3 and (125.56 + 9.95 mmHg) on day 7. While body weight and BMI were not changed. Through this result, can be concluded that the healthy food develop in this research reduced the blood pressure of elderly patient as an adjunctive therapy for hypertension.
