PROPOSED SOLUTION FOR KICKINITB, MAKING STUDENT LOAN SERVICE INTO A FINANCIALLY SUSTAINABLE COMPANY

Nowadays, Indonesia is focusing more on the education context. It is shown by how Indonesia increased its budget given to education until the one-fifth of the overall budget owned. It describes that Indonesia wants to provide better education for the citizens and will target better economic growth for the country. However, due to the high density of populations in Indonesia, this strategy of increasing the annual budget has no assurance to offer all citizens to get an education in Indonesia. Thus, a student loan is needed to boost this strategy. Student loan service becomes one of the emerging Peer to Peer lending and crowdfunding sectors in finance and technology that experienced growth. Many underprivileged students are trying to enter university scholarship, bank loans, or even tried to work to be able to invest in higher education. Bandung Institute of Technology also had several financial aids including Beasiswa Untuk Semua, Ikatan Orang Tua Mahasiswa, and a voucher to help underprivilege student pay their tuition. However, these financial aids are limited thus cannot cover every student that in need; KickInITB is a start-up in P2P lending that offers student loans by using a platform that connects philanthropists, investors, and customers. As a non-profit organization, KickInITB is dependent on donations and its investors to keep their business running. Evaluating the business model using internal and external analysis then use strength, weakness, opportunity, threat, internal factor analysis strategy, external factor analysis strategy and Ansoff matrix to analyze the company's strengths and weaknesses. Based on the analysis, it is known that the company must address its weakness and enhance its strength to be a sustainable company. Using the Al-Debei framework, two main solutions proposed to sustain the company are the improvement of value finance and value network. This company should focus on managing cost efficiency, attract and retain students as the customers, as well as attract and retain investors and philanthropists.
