As the banking business is very dynamic and governed by regulator, the management has put a lot of pressures on project execution and delivery. The bank needs to get serious on how they manage projects because the bank faces a common problem that is delay in the project implementation. Therefore, the primary purpose of this research paper is to identify and analyze the main causes of project implementation delay in the area of IT project management at one of the Indonesia's state-owned bank. The author has performed some literatures review on project management and conducted mixed methods research by combining qualitative (using interview) and quantitative (using questionnaire) result from the internal employees of the company. From the findings, it has been revealed that unclearly defined project plans, unrealistic schedule, and insufficient resource as the causes and difficulties faced by project manager during project implementation. The three main causes play crucial role for an effective and efficient project management in the company. The author suggests that the company should give more attention to improve the way they are doing project management like change communication strategy and to give more training to project manager, project management office, project/product owner, and project team about the suggest areas for improvement. text |
