In this era, the trends of temporary workers or the gig economy become increase. The gig economy is made up of three main components: the independent workers paid by the Gig (a task or a project) as opposed to those workers who receive a salary or hourly wage, the consumers who need a specific service and the companies that connect the worker to the consumer in a direct manner, including app-based technology platforms. The growth of the gig economy is a global trend, and this trend does not show signs of slowing globally. Gig Work's appearance is not an isolated trend but is related to profound changes in the economy. Advances in globalization and technology put pressure on companies or organizations to respond quickly to market changes and trends.
In this organization which work by a project or program has experiencing this phenomenon. There are two types of temporary worker in this organization. First is as intern and second is as contract worker. The reason of hiring the intern is giving a chance for new fresh graduates to feel the work environment while the contract worker hired by a project or program. They will be contracted in a period of time. So, then there is a possibility of losing their temporary worker before the agreed time between the temporary worker and organization. Therefore, the knowledge management is important as one of preventive action of the organization to reducing the knowledge loss.
In this research author use qualitative method and collecting primary data and secondary data. Primary data gathered from the observation that author do while having the business immersion program and doing semi-structured interview with some stakeholder to know the real situation in the organization. While Secondary data is obtained from public documents of the company (annual report and Company website), private document (organization’s structure), related journals and textbooks.
This research used PPT Framework and SECI Model as the tools that will help in proposing an appropriate knowledge management strategy to addressing the knowledge management related to temporary worker. which are identified possible root causes related to issue and visualize it into fishbone diagram.
After that determined knowledge management objectives required, addressed people, process and technology issues into a PPT framework, then used SECI Model to proposed knowledge conversion modes by highlighting the interplay of both tacit and explicit knowledge. Lastly, department and organization will be able to implement the knowledge management strategy as proposed.
The knowledge management strategy hopefully can encourage employees, including the temporary worker to apply their knowledge for the benefit of the organization, so that competitive advantage and service excellence will be achieved. Also, for the continuous improvement in the future either for a project or the program itself. |
