Description
Summary:Nowadays, the use of CT in the medical field for nerve and other related problems in the head is so massive. This has a good effect because with CT technology, the head diagnosis process that was previously time-consuming, complicated, becomes short and relatively easy. 320-MDCT is one of the latest popular technologies for head examination because of its resolution and short exposure duration. But there is no research that clearly explains whether 320-MDCT is really safe to use for head examination. Therefore in this study, a software called R-ImPACT will be made to determine the dose risk (Effective Dose and Cancer Risk Index) for head examination using 320-MDCT. R-ImPACT has the ability to calculate the amount of dose risk in MIRD-5 Phantom and ICRP 110 Phantom. In this research, the results show that R-ImPACT works well in calculating the effective dose and cancer risk index. The calculation error of R-ImPACT is around 1.25% - 2.56%. Furthermore, for head examination with 320-MDCT an effective dose value of 0.59 mSv for men and 0.58 mSv for women was obtained, and the Cancer Risk Index obtained 78 cases/100,000 for men and 131 cases/100,000 for women. These results indicate that the 320-MDCT technology is actually safer and provides a lower dose than the old technologyin head examination.
