This then makes the FAL division of PT DI doing a change of station design from fixed layout to product layout with 3 workstations, where each workstation has a station time for 2 months, so demand 6 units of NC-212i per year can be fulfilled. With the change in the number of workstations used by NC-212i in the FAL division, PT DI requires the method of assignment of operators consisting of mathematical models and completion algorithms so as to provide the allocation of operations to each operator in detail for each workstation which then becomes the design of the operator's assignment for the new design of the workstation. Previous operator assignments were conducted based on intuition from the assembly supervisor. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the plan of operator assignment that minimizes the number of operators required. The plan for the assignment of the operator for the 3-station NC-212i of FAL PT Division was conducted using the heuristic method. The method has objective function to minimize operator requirement and the constraints are operator’s skill, precedence constraint, and operation’s start time. The output generated from this model is to provide operations assignment results on operators and operating schedules. The heuristic method shows the solution to the needs of the operator on the workstation 3 is 19 operators with a desired station time of 38.67 days or 309.26 hours. By implementing this solution, the production target for demand as many as 6 units/per year can be achieved. text |
