One of the efforts to increase oil palm trunk with impregnation technology. Impregnation is a process of inserting a mixture of other compounds (filler) into the material (in this case wood) to improve quality (Cai et al, 2018). This research was conducted to determine the optimum concentration of oil palm trunk impregnated with tusam resin, sawdust and surian extract on the physical and mechanical properties of wood. The research method used is the experimental method of impregnation technology using 2 (two) different impregnants, a mixture of surian extract and resin and a mixture of resin and surian sawdust. There were 4 variations of the impregnant concentration used for each treatmentsurian extract with resin 0%, 4%, 6%, 8% and resin with surian sawdust 0%, 4%, 6%, 8%. Each treatment was carried out 3 replications. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) using DMRT analysis. The parameters observed included Polymer Loading (PL), density, Anti Swelling Efficiency (ASE), Water Absorption (WA), Modulus of Elasticity (MOE), Modulus of Rupture (MOR) and Tensile Strength. (TS). Based on the results of research, impregnation treatment with extracts of surian and resin 4% shows the optimum concentration with PL 65.52%, density 0.36 g / cm3, WA 65.32%, MOE 20.526.27 kgf / cm2, MOR 259.36 kgf / cm2 and TS 98.48 kgf / cm2. Impregnation treatment with resin and 0% surian sawdust showed the optimum concentration with PL 73.09%, density 0.51 g / cm3, WA 60.8%, MOE 12.332.40 kgf / cm2, MOR 133.5 kgf / cm2 and TS 71.65 kgf / cm2. text
