Runoff generated by sub-catchments of western catchment area will flow towards mine opening. A comprehensive designing of mine drainage system is necessary, not only to direct runoff flow from sub-catchments located eastward mine opening and in-pit runoff into natural stream on the west side of mine location but also to comply effluent with water quality standards. Mine drainage system designing conducted in PT Bhumi Rantau Energi which is based on yearly mine plan from 2014 to 2018, consists of 3 integral parts, i.e.: drainage design (open channel and culvert), mine dewatering (sump and pumping system) and water quality control (sedimentation pond) Open channel is categorized into two main classes based on its function: main open channel and diverting channel. Diverting channels are designed at pit Cendana to deal with surface runoff flowing into pit. Main open channel system comprises of several sections, which have dimensions related with total area of catchments served. In 2014, there are five sections made in one water-course way. From 2015 until 2018, main open channel system is made into seven sections which are divided into two water-course ways: western water-course way and eastern water-course way. Culvert is designed under waste dump Rinjani roadway as a water-flow control. Mine dewatering is served by operating two different types of pump, i.e. Multiflo MF 385 HP and MF 420, which are stationed at five sumps inside pit Cendana and pit Mahoni using eight different scenarios of operation. Mine water treatment is planned by utilizing eight ponds to deal with sedimentation of silt-sized suspended colloid particles with pond surface areas are ranging from 2500m2 to 40 000 m2 . The mine drainage system design is expected to support mine operation in PT Bhumi Rantau Energi from 2014 to 2018 trough best-practicing of runoff-flow directing plan and water-treatment plan in order to minimize negative impacts towards local environment surrounding the mine site. text |
