MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY RATE (MER) SEBAGAI PERTIMBANGAN DALAM PENENTUAN LAJU PRODUKSI OPTIMUM PADA LAPANGAN MINYAK

Determination of the optimum oil production rate is crucial to prevent production losses caused by, among others, too small production rates, the occurrence of water coning, and sand intrusion in the area around the perforation. That three main factors are used as reference parameters in determining...

That three main factors are used as reference parameters in determining the critical flow rate so that the well becomes productive during the exploitation period. This optimum oil production rate interval can provide information and a reference for operators to control the flow rate of oil in production. If even the oil rate must be operated outside the optimum oil rate interval, the operator can still get information about what to do next so the risk impact of the operation can be minimized. Maximum Efficiency Rate (MER) can be used to determine the critical optimum production rate in a well. MER can be interpreted as the highest daily production level of a well without reducing the maximum ultimate recovery. In practice, the method of determining the MER used seems to be subjective because the method used still produces inconsistent MER values if there is a change in the graph's scale (MER value is the intersection of two graphs with the secondary axis). This study will describe the precise and constant MER calculation method in determining the optimum oil flow rate to be applied in the oil field because it utilizes the relationship between production rate, THP, BHP, and the choke size. This study also describes an example of applying the new method to BDP wells in field X and determining the optimum production flow rate interval considering economic limits, the occurrence of water coning, and sand intrusion. The methodology used in this paper is an improvement and a correction to the previous method in the research of Sukobo et al. in 2018. This paper also discusses a new approach, namely the validation of the graph showing the relationship between DTHP and choke size using different flow equations. The study conducted in the BDP well using this method resulted in the value of Maximum Efficiency Rate, the critical flow rate for water coning, drawdown pressure for sand intrusion, economic production limits, and the final result of the optimum production rate interval from BDP oil well in field X of 60.2 STB / day – 848.5 STB / day. text
