Summary: | The development of automated systems for storing and retrieving goods in
warehousing racks is fulfilled by integrating such software and hardware
components. In conducting the task of moving the hardware of the system, a control
procedure is needed which acts as a reference for the system so that the produced
movements are matched with the designed response. This thesis discusses the
design, implementation, test results, and analysis of the movement control efforts
of the specified system. A set of PID control constants has been designed at a
sampling time of 2 milliseconds to meet the motion design requirements that
transitions the speed base control to the base position control when the system
position is 70% of the target distance. Optimization of the control values toward
system movement is carried out to improve movement response and meet system
specifications. The tests resulted in system movement with average speed and
maximum acceleration for horizontal and vertical drives respectively 1,123 cm/s
and 0,496 cm/s; 5,8 cm/s2
and 3,2 cm/s2
