These second tracks are constructing at three different location. First, the second track between Cikampek and Purwakarta (f 19 kms), second between Ciganea and Sukatani (I-6.1 kms), and third between Plered and Cisomang (t 6.2 kms). Because the locations for the second tracks are at the mountaneous area, several bridges must be built. One of the bridges is the bridge number BH 355. <br /> <br /> All the loads which work on the super structure will be transfered to the bearing layer of the ground through the finn foundations. Because the stability of the bridge really depends on the bridge foundations, the design of the foundation should be taken carefully and consider the stability of existing bridge and construction method. <br /> <br /> Because the foundation site is located at the mountainous area, the heavy equipment for construction is difficult to reach the site. Therefore manual site boring for foundation is chosen. <br /> <br /> Some considerations during design are taken to obtain reliable and safe foundation. These considerations involve soil exploration, soil laboratory test, selection of the length and diameter of the bored pile and also the pile group geometry. <br /> <br /> Group of bored pile with 11m length and 1,5 m diameter for abutment and 11 m length and 1,8 m diameter for pier is chosen to carry the loads act on it. The foundation bearing capacity is calculated manually and checked by the computer software GROUP, that is able to consider the load transfer mechanism from pile foundation to the adjacent soil. text
