Summary: | In determining the "New Hope of Celebes", the Indonesian Government places
priority sectors for regional economic development in the Mamminasata area, one
of which is the tourism sector. The RTR for the Mamminasata Metropolitan Area
(2010) states that the Makassar and Sangatminasa Areas are Category I Promotion
Areas while Maros and Takalar Districts are Category II Promotion Areas where
the focus of tourism development is coastal tourism. Along with the development
of coastal tourism, an increase in tourism activities in the Mamminasata area has
implications for increasing the vulnerability of the Mamminasata tourism area to
the threat of coastal natural disasters. The perception of tourists is one of the
important things in the development of a tourism destination, which can affect the
quality and resilience of the destination. Based on this background, the urgency of
conducting research studies to measure the extent of the disaster resilience of the
Mamminasata Coastal Tourism Area from the tourist point of view in the realization
of the Mamminasata area as "New Hope of Celebes". The purpose of this research
is to formulate the resilience of the coastal tourism area of Mamminasata based on
tourist perceptions. This research is a mix-method study, where the process of
identifying tourists' perceptions of natural disaster risk is based on the 4A elements
of tourism and the formulation of tourist perceptions of the level of resilience based
on Likert scale analysis which is described qualitatively against the framework with
variables of governance, society and economy, health and well- being, coastal
resource and environmental management, land use and structural design, disaster
risk information and communication, warning and evacuation, emergency
response, and disaster recovery and build back better. The results showed the risk
of disaster in the coastal tourism area of Mamminasata based on the perception of
tourists being at high risk, with a level of resilience in the medium category. |
