DEVELOPMENT OF HORIZONTAL, VERTICAL AND QUALITY LIMIT EARLY DETECTION TRACEABILITY MODEL IN AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

Vehicle recall and warranty claims are problems that mostly faced by the automotive industry due to product quality that does not meet standars. Both of these problems make a significant contribution to the quality costs and affecting the image of a company. The number of components in one vehicle r...

Both of these problems make a significant contribution to the quality costs and affecting the image of a company. The number of components in one vehicle reaches thousands of parts mixed with the complexity of the supply chain has not been supported by a comprehensive traceability system. This condition creates difficulties in analyzing the causes of quality problems and also the exact number of parts involved. This research focuses on developing a horizontal connectivity, vertical connectivity, and early detection of quality limits model. Horizontal model development is carried out by connecting all components of the supply chain through a unique identity of each component. The vertical model is an expansion of the horizontal model by adding sub data containing quality data, process changes, up to production time. The quality limit early detection model is created by adding quality standar validation to the specified components. The three models developed adds a study of the application of traceability systems, especially in the automotive world with their respective goals and results. The horizontal model generates digital twin of physical pairs in the form of a digital pair unique part identity with a vehicle's unique identity. This digital twin becomes traceability data that can be used by Distributors in accelerating, ensuring feasibility and eliminating potential fraudulent warranty claims by vehicle owners. The vertical model produces data pairs between parts and quality. This data pair is used to track back all parts that have the same quality problems. The population of parts produced is used as a basis for tracing forward the number and location of vehicles installed with these part. The vertical model speeds up the process of tracing back and forth and eliminates possible expansion of the numbers. The early detection model produces digital quality gates on both the Supplier and Manufacturing sides. This digital quality gate is used by the Supplier to detect and not send parts with substandar quality and Manufacturing also detects and does not accept these parts. text
