Description
Summary:The conversion of land functions has resulted in a decreasing area of agricultural land, but the demand for healthy food from agricultural products is increasing. One alternative to overcome this is by producing microgreens plants. Microgreens are vegetables, which are consumed within approximately 10 days after germination and contain a significantly higher nutrient content when compared to the mature ones. One of the most nutrient-rich microgreens is wheatgrass. Cultivation of wheatgrass microgreens can be done with the treatment of LED lamps of red, blue, and white light to replace sunlight and function to optimize growth, plant development, and plant nutrient content. This study aims to determine the effect of the combination of red and blue light on the growth rate, fresh weight, and carotenoid content of wheatgrass microgreens (Triticum aestivum). The results showed that the highest increase of plant height was recorded in plants treated with a combination 83% red + 17% blue light (B), while the heaviest fresh weight in 47% red + 53% blue (C) and highest carotenoid content in 91% red + 9% blue (A).
