Description
Summary:
Abstract:

This research presents a problem of determining joint economic lot sizes for buyer-manufacturersupplier. A manufacturer orders raw materials from a supplier, converts the raw materials to finished goods, and finally delivers the finished goods to a buyer. The manufacturer produces the finished good in batches at a finite rate and delivers finished goods with equal-and-unequal sizes to buyer to satisfy a constant demand rate.

An integrated model of determining joint economic lot size for buyer-manufacturer-supplier is developed to obtain a good global solution for all tiers. The objective of the model is to minimize the total joint annual cost incurred by the buyer, the manufacturer, and the supplier. The approach used in this research is an analytical approach.

The outcomes of the research confirm the policy of buyer-manufacturer-supplier integration and could provide a better system performance instead of partial policy. Finished product shipment policy from manufacturer to buyer with equal-and-unequal size results smaller total joint annual cost, comparing to equal or unequal size shipment.
