The use of 3rd party to support laboratory activities is intended to optimize cost, maintain resources efficiency, and provide world class laboratory service. The contract model used will significantly affect laboratory performance as measured in terms of cost, turn-around time (TAT), quality of data and reporting, and level of customer satisfaction. Laboratory services had proven to be a critical point in supporting large projects in PT CPI. Two big projects that had been successfully supported by the MNS Laboratory are the Surfactant Field Trial2 (SFT-2) project from 2012 until 2015, and the Hydrocarbon Impacted Soil (HIS) Remediation project from 2016 until 2020. The upcoming project that will need large laboratory support is Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR). It is one of the new operator’s strategic projects after taking over the Rokan block from PT CPI to boost up oil production. The current lump sum contract model implemented in the MNS Laboratory is proven to be costly and inflexible. Therefore, selecting the right contract model that is suitable with MNS Laboratory operations is essential to help MNS Laboratory to have a strong resources base. To select the best alternative, four criteria are introduced. They are Cost, Turn-Around Time (TAT), Organizational Capability and Industrial Relations. Since every stakeholder has different preference over the criteria so that a decision-making process is challenging. To connect those differences, brainstorming processes were conducted, and then final survey result was calculated using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) software from BMPSG. The output of this software is weighted criteria. Based on result of the AHP, the best solution for MNS Laboratory is Lump Sum with Modification contract model. text
