Both the work values of Generation Z workforce and the company itself need to align in order for a synergy to happen. Inclusivity at the workplace to bridge the opportunity gap between different genders and educational backgrounds is also important to reach said synergy, due to the current situation of inequality in opportunity between different genders and educational backgrounds in Indonesian industry which is the business issue of this study, and of which can continue to happen in the Generation Z era if no actions to fix or improve the situation are being taken quickly. Having a diverse workforce is important as it is one of a company’s valuable resources to take advantage of, by bringing out the best of different experiences, skillsets, knowledge, and insight that each different employee possess. Constantly learning from the gender and educational background diversity at the workplace can breed innovations that can benefit the company and the industry as a whole. This research found that Generation Z valued extrinsic work values the most, Generation Z females scored higher than males in the intrinsic, social, and prestige work values, science majors of Generation Z scored higher in intrinsic and prestige work values than social science majors. The root cause is Indonesian companies and the industries in general, especially in STEM, have a natural tendency to be biased towards employees with masculine traits that fit their general masculine work culture or setting, generally offering more attention and advantage to the males and science majors. The proposed business solutions are renewing the talent management and improving the organizational characteristics after discovering Generation Z’s work values and the root cause of the business issue, and also as ways to bridge the opportunity gap to reach equality at the workplace for workforce with different genders and educational backgrounds. text
