PROPOSED INTEGRATION OF CSR PROGRAMS WHICH APPLYING CIRCULAR ECONOMIC PRINCIPLE IN PT. GREEN BUILDING

The concept of circular economy nowadays gaining more and more attention along with increasing public awareness to create better sustainable life. The ultimate reason on why circular economy is growing interest from people is the ability to incorporate environmental preservation, social development and economic well-being all within a coherent framework towards sustainable development. PT. Green Building had been applying the principle of circular economy through its waste management unit business which consumed industrial and cities waste into co-processing system, a more environmental friendly among other methods. This practices are welcomed by the government and shareholders. Being recognizes as role model of cement plant, company should ensure its internal and external stakeholders will support the circular economy initiatives which contained in company Sustainable Target. However, various kind of stakeholders and communities which have different interest and mind set, makes big challenges to implement circular economy initiatives in CSR. This is the importance of CSR Programs as the main driver of external engagement and social license can adopt the circular economy principles to support the sustainability business of the company. Towards Sustainable Target, company had challenge its CSR function to introduce circular economy through CSR programs. This research applying Triple Bottom Line concept by John Elkington (1994) as conceptual framework and employs a qualitative approach by conducting an interview and Focus Group Discussion. This study found that there are four main root causes that hinder the circular economy applications towards CSR Programs (a). Community Mind Set (b). Employee Skill/Competencies (c). Ineffective CSR Programs (d). Community Needs Assessment. This study also set up comprehensive implementation plan and propose effective model to solve the problem and reach company sustainability target.
