Providing the appropriate carbohydrates can keep the athlete's blood glucose levels optimal during competitions and training. There is one natural ingredient that can be used to maintain energy, which is cilembu sweet potato, a native variety from the village of Cilembu, Sumedang Regency, West Java. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cilembu sweet potato and white bread on blood lactate glucose levels, blood glucose levels and how much basal energy BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and energy expenditure or TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) of the rugby athletes. Methods: The participants in this study were 30 athletes of West Java rugby. This study used clinical trials with true experimental research design with pre-post randomized controlled group design. The parameters measured were blood lactate levels, blood glucose levels and how much basal energy BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and energy expenditure or TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) of the rugby athletes. Results: based on t-test there was a significant change in blood lactate levels (p<0.05) between the pre-test match 1 and post-test match 1 in each group. There was a significant change in blood lactate levels (p<0.05) between the pre-test match 2 and post-test match 2 in the sweet potato group (p = 0.04), but there was no significant change (p>0.05 ) between pre-test match 2 and post-test match 2 in the white bread group (p = 0.07) mineral water (p = 0.08). Based on the t-test, there was a significant change in blood glucose levels (p<0.05) between the pre-test and post-test match 1 in each group. There was no significant change (p>0.05) between the pre-test and post-test match 2 in the white bread group (p = 0.43) and the control group (p = 1.00). However, there was a significant change (p<0.05) in the cilembu sweet potato group (p = 0.00). Meanwhile, the Basal Metabolic Rate of West Java rugby athletes shows the average BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) which is (1,629 ± 180.0) and the average TDEE TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is (2,933 ± 323.0).Conclusion: Cilembu sweet potato is able to delay fatigue and maintain blood glucose levels quite well. Thus Cilembu sweet potato can be a natural ingredient that is safe for energy-boosting foods. text |

Background: The stability of blood glucose levels is very important to support
performance during high-intensity competitions can cause a decrease in glycogen
stores and cause hypoglycemia (fatigue in physical activity), as well as having an
impact on the central nervous system which affects information processing so that
it interferes the athlete's performance. Providing the appropriate carbohydrates can
keep the athlete's blood glucose levels optimal during competitions and training.
There is one natural ingredient that can be used to maintain energy, which is
cilembu sweet potato, a native variety from the village of Cilembu, Sumedang
Regency, West Java. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the
effect of cilembu sweet potato and white bread on blood lactate glucose levels,
blood glucose levels and how much basal energy BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)
and energy expenditure or TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) of the rugby
athletes. Methods: The participants in this study were 30 athletes of West Java
rugby. This study used clinical trials with true experimental research design with
pre-post randomized controlled group design. The parameters measured were
blood lactate levels, blood glucose levels and how much basal energy BMR (Basal
Metabolic Rate) and energy expenditure or TDEE (Total Daily Energy
Expenditure) of the rugby athletes. Results: based on t-test there was a significant
change in blood lactate levels (p<0.05) between the pre-test match 1 and post-test
match 1 in each group. There was a significant change in blood lactate levels
(p<0.05) between the pre-test match 2 and post-test match 2 in the sweet potato
group (p = 0.04), but there was no significant change (p>0.05 ) between pre-test
match 2 and post-test match 2 in the white bread group (p = 0.07) mineral water
(p = 0.08). Based on the t-test, there was a significant change in blood glucose
levels (p<0.05) between the pre-test and post-test match 1 in each group. There
was no significant change (p>0.05) between the pre-test and post-test match 2 in
the white bread group (p = 0.43) and the control group (p = 1.00). However, there
was a significant change (p<0.05) in the cilembu sweet potato group (p = 0.00).
Meanwhile, the Basal Metabolic Rate of West Java rugby athletes shows the
average BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) which is (1,629 ± 180.0) and the average
TDEE TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is (2,933 ± 323.0).Conclusion:
Cilembu sweet potato is able to delay fatigue and maintain blood glucose levels
quite well. Thus Cilembu sweet potato can be a natural ingredient that is safe for
