Description
Summary:Soybean is one type of food plant that is very popular in Indonesia. This is because soybeans have many benefits that can meet people's needs at a relatively affordable price. Usually, in the process of making tempeh, tofu, or soy milk, the first thing to do is peel off the peanut shells. The price difference between shelled and unshelled soybeans is relatively large. This research was conducted in order to increase the effectiveness of the soybean crusher so that it can be ascertained that the machine produced works optimally for the long term. The research starts from collecting data on old machine designs to be used as a reference for developing new designs. The design development for the soybean crusher was carried out by adding a frame, wheels, sweeper, fan, and other parts. Furthermore, a simulation analysis of load calculations is carried out to determine the minimum diameter and material of the soybean peeler shaft using Ms. Excel, SolidWorks, and ANSYS Workbench applications. By using a peeling force parameter of 5N with a spreading force of 404.04 N/m on the shaft, the minimum diameter for the shaft is 14.4 mm, and the shaft diameter is 28 mm. Followed by the calculation of the energy transfer from the 1hp motor, obtained a peel force of 1233.79 N with a rotating speed of 57.7 rpm capable of peeling a minimum of 58 soybeans per rotation.
