Description
Summary:According to data from the WHO report in 2004, as many as 7.2 million (12.2%) deaths worldwide are caused by acute myocardial infarction disease or better known as a heart attack. In recent years, herbal medicines or herbal products are chosen by many people as an alternative treatment for the prevention and cure of disease. Fresh garlic is known to have pharmacological effects related to cardiovascular disease, however, because of the distinctive odor and flavor of garlic, some people prefer black garlic with a more tolerable taste and smell to be consumed directly as herbal medicine. The organosulfur compound is a bioactive compound that plays an important role in fresh garlic and black garlic. This study aims to determine cardioprotective related mechanisms based on the review of SAR (Structure-activity Relationship) studies and the interaction of organosulfur compounds in black garlic and fresh garlic against the target protein of myocardial infarction drugs by molecular docking method. The literature review has conducted using 50 journal articles that occurred in the PubMed search engine. The software used to perform molecular docking is AutoDockTools. In summary, based on the literature review and in silico study, allicin and 3-vinyl(4H)-1,2-dithiin compound which is more commonly found in fresh garlic can be used as candidates for myocardial infarction drugs because they can interact well in COX-1 enzymes that are the target of aspirin as myocardial infarction drugs and can also be used for preventive therapy as cardioprotective agents through the pathway of antithrombotic mechanisms.
